Test Card F

The BBC's colour test card: Carole Hersee playing noughts and crosses with a toy clown called Bubbles, broadcast for decades.

It was on screen for thousands of hours because television did not broadcast all day. There was accompanying music, which is now a genre unto itself.

Carole Hersee is reckoned to have appeared on British television more than any other person, entirely by accident.
