Bagpuss
A saggy old cloth cat, baggy and a bit loose at the seams.
Thirteen episodes. That is all there ever were, and it is one of the best-loved British programmes ever made.
Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin made it in a barn in Kent with stop-motion and an enormous amount of patience. The cat was meant to be marmalade and the dye went wrong, which is why he is pink and cream.
Every episode had the same shape and it never got old. The narration is the warmest thing in British television.
