Loom Bands
Tiny rubber bands, everywhere, for one entire summer.
A plastic loom and bags of coloured elastic bands that produced bracelets, and then covered every floor in Britain.
It was an unusually fast and total craze. Schools banned them within weeks and the bands turned up in hoovers for years afterwards.
David Beckham wore one. So did the Duchess of Cambridge. By Christmas it was completely over.
