Midnight queues, for an operating system.
Microsoft launched Windows 95 with a Rolling Stones track and shops opening at midnight, and people actually queued.
The startup sound was composed by Brian Eno, commissioned to be "inspiring, universal, optimistic" and 3.25 seconds long.
It came on thirteen floppy disks if you did not have a CD drive. Installing it was an afternoon.
