Watney's Party Seven: a giant can of beer opened with a screwdriver and a great deal of optimism.
There was no proper opener. You punched two holes in the lid with a screwdriver and a hammer, one to pour and one to let air in, and sprayed the kitchen either way.
The beer was warm by the third pint and nobody minded. It was the centrepiece of every seventies front-room party, which makes its sixties debut the real start of the era.
