The Mini was a response to the Suez fuel crisis and ended up as a fashion object. Everyone from the royals to the Beatles had one, which is not a sentence you can write about many cars.
The sliding windows, the boot lid that dropped down to carry more, the starter button on the floor. Cold, noisy, leaked, and universally adored.
