The London 2012 Summer
Six weeks where the whole country was briefly in a good mood.
The Olympics, the opening ceremony, Super Saturday, and volunteers in purple and pink everywhere.
Danny Boyle's opening ceremony with the NHS beds and the Queen apparently parachuting in is the bit everyone brings up first.
Super Saturday (Ennis, Rutherford and Farah in 44 minutes) is probably the single best evening in British athletics history.
Cost back then
£20–£725 a ticket, if you got one
