The BBC's Saturday morning block, with games, bands, cartoons and a competition where somebody got gunged.
It was live, so it went wrong regularly, which was the entire appeal. The phone-in competitions were genuinely difficult to win and children tried all morning.
Saturday morning television was a shared national experience for under-fifteens for about twenty-five years, and then it just stopped.
