Netflix launched its UK streaming service in January 2012 at £5.99 a month, with a famously thin catalogue.
The initial library was genuinely poor and the joke was that there was nothing on it. Within three years it had rewritten how Britain watched television.
Binge-watching as a behaviour dates almost exactly from House of Cards being released all at once in 2013.
