Channel 4 put strangers in a house and ran it 24 hours a day, and Britain could not look away.
The live feed on E4 ran all night. People watched hours of contestants sleeping, which sounds absurd and was absolutely happening in student houses across the country.
It rewrote British television scheduling and created the format that ate the following fifteen years.
